Religious Hatred: a Virus to Be Eliminated

Islamic Hate Phelps and Ilk

So we have known and believe the love that God has for us. God is love, and those who abide in love abide in God, and God abides in them. Love has been perfected among us in this: that we may have boldness on the day of judgment, because as he is, so are we in this world. There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear; for fear has to do with punishment, and whoever fears has not reached perfection in love. We love because he first loved us. Those who say, “I love God,” and hate their brothers or sisters, are liars; for those who do not love a brother or sister whom they have seen, cannot love God whom they have not seen. The commandment we have from him is this: those who love God must love their brothers and sisters also. (1John 4:16-21 NRSV)

12 The wicked plot against the righteous,

and gnash their teeth at them;

13 but the LORD laughs at the wicked,

for he sees that their day is coming.

14 The wicked draw the sword and bend their bows

to bring down the poor and needy,

to kill those who walk uprightly;

15 their sword shall enter their own heart,

and their bows shall be broken.

16 Better is a little that the righteous person has

than the abundance of many wicked.

17 For the arms of the wicked shall be broken,

but the LORD upholds the righteous. (Psalm 37)

Let’s remember this Sunday: that those who foment hatred whether Jew, Christian, or Muslim, will be recompensed for it by God.
