D. C. Toedt over at The Questioning Christian got me thinking about what exactly makes someone a Christian? Can anyone call themselves that or are there distinct signs? Who decides if someone is a Christian? Is it up to us? Up to the church? Up to God? What do you think?
On another note, I got my tests results from the stress tests. It looks like a blockage in the front artery. I get to have some more procedures for the holidays! Whoopee! I would appreciate prayers and positive thoughts in the next couple of weeks because it’s hard to concentrate on anything until this problem is “repaired.” As usual all my “issues” about faith and prayer come to the fore. I’m not sure that prayer works in the sense that it changes God’s mind or moves God to do anything. I believe in the power of praying people and the praying individual to alter themselves. Otherwise, God would be like a genie granting wishes all day, sometimes contradictory ones, kind of like Bruce in the hilarious movie Bruce Almighty.
PS. Shortly after I wrote this I came across the Internet Monk’s article about similar questions. It’s worth a read, as are all his articles.
John 10:27 “My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me.”
