Quote of the Day

“The diary was once a disease. I do not take it up
now for the same reasons. Before it was because
I was lonely, or because I did not know how to
communicate with others. I needed the communion.
Now it is to write, not for solace but for the pleasure
of describing others, out of abundance.”¬† ~Anais Nin

  1. Let me tell ya – I do NOT understand that quote. Guess I’ll have to mull it over a bit.

OHHHHH!! I was just reading it again and understood. I think I’ll still mull it over.

  2. Hi wordsmith! Yes, it took me a couple thoughts to figure out what I thought it meant. I think she’s describing her obsessive need to write in her diaries. She did write a lot. I can relate. In a sense, it’s my dis-ease that compels me to write. So “me” focused it was (and still is). I wonder if I can move into that space she speaks of. Good to see you!
