James Michener's books all had very strong settings. From Chesapeake, to Centennial, to The Source, he vividly recreates the area from its evolutionary beginnings to modern times. I couldn't get enough of them when I was younger and had acres of time to read. Hawaii however has stuck with me. I visualize it pretty well based on his descriptions. I recommend them all.

Yeah, I’m currently working on something with Hawaiian terminology.
I hate researching for writing projects with terminology I didn’t make up, but Hawaiian is kind of fun. Michener’s historical fiction has always been a fun read. I should probably check this one out. Hahalo for the tip.
(That was supposed to be Mahalo – geez. I’m not very good at this).
